Artist Statement:
Interdisciplinary Artist + Designer
Biography:
Art and design both have the same goals: to communicate ideas. I explore design as a branching point for interdisciplinary art-making in various mediums. My photographic and film work is introspective, giving it an emotive and narrative quality. There are different languages used in various mediums to express ideas; as a designer, I am able to borrow from these languages to best communicate an idea.
My design work relies heavily on my passion for the study of semiotics, the scientific method, and on my background in commercial printing, photography, and filmmaking to convey information in a quiet yet expressive manner. I specialize in exhibition design, editorial + book design, typography, identity, motion graphics, image design, and creative problem solving.
