Artist Statement:

As Agnes Martin said, “Beauty is an awareness in the mind.” Through my work, I seek this awareness for myself, and I also seek to convey it to the viewer.
Although beauty is an important concern in my work, ugliness also plays a crucial role. I am interested in the ugliness behind beauty, and the beauty behind ugliness.
My work is constructed between the beautiful and the visceral. Abstract representation bears a direct connection to the ineffable; it gives us access to emotions and sensations that cannot be put into words.
