Transit of Saturn is a visual distillation of recent experiences in transitional spaces that explores the feeling of suspension and anxiety that manifests from time spent waiting. My video installation evokes and interrogates the uncertain space between the near and far, here and there, the familiar and the unknown in which the viewer can become lost in their consciousnesses and resurface again in clarity.
Oscillating between stillness and movement, layered projections negotiate the intimate landscapes and fleeting moments embodied in the daily reality of being a caretaker. Through the mercurial quality of video, I portray the body as both a representation and an abstraction to address the discomfort, fear, and hope inherent in the confrontation of illness. Swept up in the tide of time, the body in this position can look back at the past and forward to the future through the incessant flow of the moving image and fluid inner landscapes.
