My thesis project is an animated cartoon of my own creation called Shenanigans featuring three of my own characters; Ace the Cat, Mutt Bud and Herb the Fox. Animated at twenty-four frames per second, this piece fully realizes the extent of my skill as an animator. This short runs a little over a minute long and focuses on establishing the world and behavior of the characters I’ve been crafting in my head for quite some time now.
The characters featured in this short are all reminiscent of the older more classic style of cartoons and the animation style is meant to compliment that old school charm.
I made this film as a testament to the cartoons of my childhood in hopes of giving back to the wonderful art of hand drawn animation.

Biography:

Born and raised in Ellsworth Maine, James Miller was destined to be a cartoonist. Inspired by some of the greatest animated juggernauts; Mickey Mouse and Bugz Bunny, James had his heart set on creating the same kind of heartwarming animation that those giants had done for him.
From that young age onward, James spent many years crafting and perfecting his style before being accepted to college. Up until that point he had been classically trained by all of the greatest cartoonist’s. Jim Davis, Tex Avery, Bill Watterson, Walt Disney, etc.
James discovered animation at the end of his first year of college and it was love at first sight. All of his hard work and dedication had led him to this moment and it changed his life forever. James now dedicates his entire life to the art of animation with his latest endeavor being a short film known as Shenanigans.
