I'm interested in landscape as the subject of abstraction. I have spent the last 20 years since receiving my BFA in painting at MECA exploring the possibilities within this subject. Stripes have emerged in my work after a process of distillation and refinement.
Biography:
After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sarah Lawrence College in 1969 I taught elementary school in rural Maine for ten years. It was when I needed six college credits in any field to renew my teaching certificate that I enrolled in a drawing class at what was then Maine College of Art in the late 80's with no intention of pursuing a degree. However I got hooked and over a period of nearly ten years I completed a BFA with a major in painting. I have maintained a studio in Portland ever since.
