Reflecting a romanticized form of 1950’s iconic homeware, this work disrupts the lifestyle associated with that time to examine a desire for freedom and an exploration of individuality. By utilizing familiar forms and imagery, I create a sense of home and comfort which fosters a space that allows people to experience memory and personal nostalgic reflection. I invite people to interact with my work through its kinetic components; the dangling, dancing, glittering elements in my work recall an era of kitsch and the techni-color whimsy of post-war domesticity as it lives in the popular imagination.
