BFA Student

Major: Textile & Fashion Design

Graduation Year: 2018

Artist Statement:

Jackiellen Bonney is a fashion and textile designer whose main focus within her practice is to create wearables that tell a story and establish a relationship between not only the wearer and the garment, but the combination of these two elements with a broader audience. Her most recent work has focused around art movements of 19th century Europe, specifically the work of James Whistler. By taking Whistler’s core values and ideas within his work and translating them into garments, Bonney is able to create auras of the body, atmospheres in which the work becomes more than just a piece of clothing.

Biography:

Jackiellen Bonney has attended Haystack Mountain School of Craft, Parsons School of Design, and has volunteered her time with Jill McGowan, attending the Coterie Trade Show. She has taken up internships at Leota, Quince & Co. and Gathering of Stitches. Post graduation she will be working full time at Wallace James Clothing Company.
