Artist Statement:
New View is an outdoor installation that consists of a set of eight wooden swings suspended in trees, too high for ordinary use as swings. The original New View took place in December of 2018, in the East Deering neighborhood of Portland, Maine. New View 2 was installed in Portland’s Deering Oaks Park on April 6 as part of the City of Portland Temporary Public Art Program. It will be on view until May 19, 2019.
New View arose from my experience of contending with cancer in 2017. It is an expression of my sense that life is both tremendously joyful and exquisitely precarious.
Biography:
I am a working mother living in Portland, Maine. I began working towards a BFA degree at MECA in 2003. I feel very lucky and relieved to have reached that goal at last.
