Al Tomas is a printmaker living in Portland, ME and was raised in Massachusetts. Their work is centered on personal identity, growth, and change within the realms of gender identity and neurodivergence. They value empathy as part of their art practice and create work so that anyone can relate to or understand it. Screenprinting and large text is an important part of their practice. This technique helps them define their experiences in a more personal way, a sort of letter to all stating “this is what I am, so be it”. Their diaristic approach attempts to make space for themselves and other neurodivergent people who need it within the world.
