Artist Statement:

My body of work speaks to the personal relationship I have with nature as well as the memories of my childhood. By playing with sculpture, video, and illustration I create renditions of the alternate reality that my childhood now feels like. A period that feels like a different lifetime. To highlight my connection with nature, I build a variety of two and three dimensional outdoor landscapes with materials like Sculpey clay, glitter, sequins, Sharpies, video, and more. Through world building and the action of playing, these landscapes act as portals for me to escape reality and be in touch with my child self again. The visual tension I create with color and repetitive patterns are formal tools I use to entrance others into my fantasies.
