Edge of Seventeen

Description

Music has the ability to cause deep emotional recall; hearing just one measure from a song can transport the listener back to a precise moment in time. We immediately know where we were and who we were with. However, my memories are specific only to me. In order to share those memories with viewers in a more intimate manner, I have compiled the most influential songs in my music collection and their respective photographs into an audio-visual timeline for the year 2010. I believe that we romanticize our younger years and don't always remember things quite as they were, sometimes curating our own thoughts to eliminate the negative. In compiling these music-memories, I have attempted to revisit all emotional aspects of 2010, good and bad. It is my hope that in doing so, I am able to guide viewers through my experience as a seventeen-year-old coming of age in rural New Hampshire.
