Description

This was an acrylic, ink wash abstract painting that used found materials such as feathers and lace to acquire the desired texture. It was meant to study naturally occurring forms in nature and how emotion is more attracted to certain shapes we see based on how we feel.

Artist Statement:

As an artist my intention is to produce artwork that not only speaks to myself as an individual but has a voice all its own. Regardless of the medium or form it may take each new work develops a personality and image for itself. An artist’s work is a child we breathe life into, while walking away newly reborn ourselves. When people view my work I want them to walk away feeling inspired. I want their minds to be open to their own imagination and the endless possibilities it presents. Art is meant to provoke a sense of creative freedom and allow its audience to look beyond what is expected, acting as a consolation for many who feel overwhelmed by the pressures of society. My artwork may be created by me but afterwards it begins to speak for itself. Passion is an elusive presence that hides behind the pressure we put on ourselves everyday. When passion is broken free it can be scary due to the change it inspires, but it is still necessary to drive us forward. My passion lies not just in art but in nature, positive change, and empathy. I want to let these feelings drive the art I will create.
