Hannah Stritch's Look and Find

Description

When I think of puzzle books, I think of the countless Look and Find books I used to collect when I was younger. Growing up, I found inspiration in books such as I Spy, Where?s Waldo, and Highlights magazine, to name a few of my favorites. These publications kept my active brain entertained and occupied for hours on end. Now, Look and Find books, though beloved by some, have gone out of style. My thesis is a contemporary spin on look and find activities, in which I hope to resurrect an interest in puzzle books, magazines, and even posters, like mine, for people of all ages. The larger poster format and bright, neon colors I decided to use demand attention from my audience. In addition to the size and color, the contemporary subjects depicted are also meant to compel children and adults to put away their electronics for a bit and engage their minds with my art.

Hannah Stritch is an illustrator and recent graduate of Maine College of Art. Her illustrations focus on giving a voice to characters that don't usually get to have one in mainstream media. She currently lives in Portland with her boyfriend and her sweet, chunky cat, Percy.
