Criminalization, 2019

Process of Identification

This installation is centered on the criminalization and invisibility of Latina/o/x asylum seekers. I am using ID photography to immerse the viewer in the overwhelming identities of youth who are criminalized for seeking asylum. I interested in transparency in the materiality and also as a concept to continue to mine within my work. I am thinking about issues of erasure and person-hood in this asylum seeking experience that is inseparable to socio- cultural and economic factors.
