Description

This project was for my Editorial Illustration class where we had to create a New Yorker cover. When I was a kid, I would visit NYC all the time and my favorite thing to do was ride in the taxi's. I loved riding through the city, especially when it rained because the lights looked like magic. I wanted to reference this in my mock New Yorker cover.

Artist Statement:

My work revolves around my love for dramatic lighting and the challenge of effective storytelling. I strive to push the boundaries of realism and to create captivating art using vivid colors and high contrast. My goal is to create magic in the mundane by taking routine subject matters such as sitting on the train or buying lunch and turning them into magical experiences. Much of my work has been inspired by the vibrance of New York City, a place where I spent much of my childhood. Whenever possible, I also try to focus on womens’ empowerment. I am constantly influenced by the many strong and impactful women in my life. They give me the strength and drive to create and share my work with the world.
