Grandfather\'s Perspective

Description

Another mock New Yorker cover I did for a different class. This one was inspired by my Grandfather's love for trees. My Grandfather loved nature and treated every tree as if it was a sacred treasure. He lived in New York City where he was a Citizen Pruner, which were volunteers who would take care of the spindly trees on the sidewalks of the city. Since the theme if the cover was Earth Day, I felt it was fitting to incorporate the man that saw nature as magical.

Artist Statement:

My work revolves around my love for dramatic lighting and the challenge of effective storytelling. I strive to push the boundaries of realism and to create captivating art using vivid colors and high contrast. My goal is to create magic in the mundane by taking routine subject matters such as sitting on the train or buying lunch and turning them into magical experiences. Much of my work has been inspired by the vibrance of New York City, a place where I spent much of my childhood. Whenever possible, I also try to focus on womens’ empowerment. I am constantly influenced by the many strong and impactful women in my life. They give me the strength and drive to create and share my work with the world.
