Description
Buddy the Bullfrog is clumsy, awkward, and the only frog on Sweet Pickle Pond that wears glasses. But what bothers Buddy the most is that he does not have a friend. Maybe it is because he always falls off his lily pad or because he never wins the hopping races. Even Buddys tongue is too long to catch flies! But when Sly the salamander stops by, he reminds Buddy that everyone is good at something. And when Buddy joins the Sweet Pickle Pond Band, he finds the friendship he was longing for. Artist Statement:
I use the form of the picture book to tell stories that entertain. I find that the very best picture books challenge readers to strengthen their visual literacy skills – asking them to discern what is happening in both the words and pictures to make sense of the entire narrative. I love when a picture book makes us act as a detective, puzzling the pieces together.
