Driven by my curiosity about the many different ways people share intimacy, I made portraits of various types of relationships ranging from monogamous to polyamorous. Polyamory is a lifestyle in which a person is intimately involved with more than one individual at the same time and everyone involved is aware and okay with the various dynamics. Unlike monogamy, there aren?t a clear set of understood rules or guidelines for how a polyamorous relationship works. Our sex negative culture tends to think of non monogamous relationships as exotic and often misinterpret polyamorous people as sex crazed hedonists that can?t handle commitment. In reality, poly relationships are no more or less exotic than their monogamous counterparts. These portraits function as a whole, meant to be viewed together so differentiating between the polyamorous and monogamous portraits becomes difficult.
