Am I Better as an Abstract Concept? is an explorational narrative game that serves as an allegory for the real world systems of control that work to harm marginalized people. Set in a library for local family history, the user takes on the role of an employee who must assist patrons in borrowing books. The repository is set up much more like a clinic than a traditional book lender, wherein patrons must stay in an impersonal waiting room while the books are stored in a separate space which may only be accessed by the librarians. In performing that job the player unavoidably becomes complicit in afflicting this systemic harm.
