Within my woodworking and the spectacle of exhibiting my collections I investigate the use and display of my own archival experience with a combination of fine furniture and found objects. I glorify and bring reverence to collections through my work. Though my experiences of gathering and collecting someone's used items and holding their value higher than something that could be bought in a store became important to the collecting. It will always be the hunt for that next item that fuels the desire to keep collecting, rather than the instant gratification of using the internet to obtain that item. I have designed a cabinet specifically to house a Video Cassette Recorder (VCR). The cabinetâ??s design is rooted in Heywood Wakefield art deco / modern aesthetic. The Cassettes that will serve as the physical media will be displayed on shelves that allow the vast quantity to overwhelm the viewer with awe.
