Description

This Project was done for my Narrative Illustration class. In this self directed assignment I produced a thirteen page comic about anthropomorphic cats that run an underground sex slave ring. The main character, Ursula, who is the skinny black and white cat, has decided she's had enough of that king of life and attempts escape.
Pages one through three are here in order.

Artist Statement:

My senior thesis is an autobiographical comic book titled MECA and ME: A Four Year Journey. It is about my experience at Maine College of Art. The focus of the story is on the anxiety I developed throughout my time at the school and how I have learned to control it.
I decided to make my characters anthropomorphic cats because I am able to use exaggerated antics and expressions that combine human desires with feline cunning. This allows me to explore a wide range of emotions that helps to tell the story in an engaging and humorous way.
Leaving MECA, I have a greater understanding of how to tell a compelling narrative through my art. My education has prepared me to create comic strips, comic books, graphic novels and any other kind of illustration that comes my way.
