Description

Lace Work displays a months long exploration of material and form through the lens of tires and lace. Here, I explore light, shadow, mark making, additive process, and subtractive process as well as the capabilities and restrictions of these objects. Lace represents fragility and minimal use-value whereas tires depict rugged ability and frequent use, to the point of deterioration. Through material investigation I find empathy for these objects, realizing that their functions are both individually and simultaneously valuable.
