Description

This was a summer internship project. I created an entire comic book in the span of two months. The final product is a story of two prehistoric women who learn to get along with each other and come to terms with their differences.

The first three pages can be seen below the cover.

Artist Statement:

My senior thesis is an autobiographical comic book titled MECA and ME: A Four Year Journey. It is about my experience at Maine College of Art. The focus of the story is on the anxiety I developed throughout my time at the school and how I have learned to control it.
I decided to make my characters anthropomorphic cats because I am able to use exaggerated antics and expressions that combine human desires with feline cunning. This allows me to explore a wide range of emotions that helps to tell the story in an engaging and humorous way.
Leaving MECA, I have a greater understanding of how to tell a compelling narrative through my art. My education has prepared me to create comic strips, comic books, graphic novels and any other kind of illustration that comes my way.
