Description

Who, what, when, where, why: we ask these questions about beings from outer space. Is it possible that extraterrestrials ponder the same questions about us? My thesis analyzes the relationship between people and aliens. We are both voyeurs and subjects as we study one another to discover who and what we are, why we do what we do, and how to understand our "otherness."
This aspect is presented through design pieces made by aliens paired with work exploring human responses to UFO sightings and abductions. Influenced by Postmodernism and Dadaism I have created a blend of unusual discord and astute structure to display the intelligence and enigma of life outside of our known universe.
What would an alien learn about humans if it were to observe and study your life? My thesis follows ideals of wit, absurdity, intellect, and usurpation to make my audience think deeply about aliens and how everyday life would be impacted if they were more than science fiction.
